Andreas Messinger 1987

Andreas Messinger studied in the contextual painting department with Ashley Scheirl and graduated with Erwin Bohatsch. His painterly discourse is the contemporary depiction of nature and landscape. He is one of the outstanding painters who knows how to depict the alienation between man and his environment and digital space with overwhelming precision and to establish the imagined environment and nature as a perceived home port of desire, an image of longing. For a society that has forgotten its view of lost nature and only knows how to deal with a flora through media translation, this is an icy cold yet romantic mirror. Messinger painterly translates what Benedict Anderson wrote about media communities - that only the digital or media utopia is a common place of feeling. Real or material places, however, have no further use for depicting social space. phil. Ruby Jana Sircar
