Sofie Fatouretchi Royer is a California-born Austrian-Iranian artist. Her diverse talents include applied art, studies in philosophy, psychology and English, and her work as a musician and DJane.
Her poetic depictions show, on the one hand, snapshots of mystical scenes that are devoid of any logic. Letters, scraps of words, words or whole sentences often break through the filigree executed scenes. On the other hand, her abstract works show only fragments of representational forms, which then dissolve into colorful relations. Only the title points to representational associations. Her works, which can be located on the threshold between everyday life and mysticism, representationalism and abstraction, are applied to silk. The woven silk thread becomes a tear-resistant matrix, a safety net for the ephemeral subject.
