Albert Mayr's artistic work ranges from performance and sound to installation, sculpture, collage and drawing. His works are always characterized by their performative character, which comes to light in a variety of ways in the different media.
Performativity is also the - literally creative - driving force behind the development of two series on display at L.art Galerie. It all begins with the coloring of the paper using standard laser printers and photocopiers. The sheets are printed flat with color and toner, sometimes several times on top of each other. The smaller pocket paintings are folded small and the artist carries them in his trouser pockets over a period of weeks or months. During this period, abrasions and fracture lines are created, which ultimately result in the abstract image. The folding pictures are similar, but due to their larger format they are no longer carried in trouser pockets. They are folded, rubbed, tapped and sanded and wander around the city in bags or rucksacks - or they end up on the car seat as a base until they have reached the right "maturity".
His work has been exhibited widely in Austria and abroad, including at Museum Ostwall Dortmund, Muhka Antwerp, Künstlerhaus Graz, Neuer Wiener Kunstverein, Österreichisches Kulturforum Warschau, Kunstraum Innsbruck, Kunsthaus Wien, State Museum of Contemporary Art Thessaloniki, ReMap Athens, Donaufestival Krems, Parken Festival Wien, Roskot Festival Aalst.
