Barbara Höller works experimentally and conceptually in series across various media, including painting and drawing, objects, and spatial interventions.
Lines occupy a central position in her work, serving as the starting point for minimalist or modular systems. In her serial, concrete works, she varies the arrangement of lines using acrylic paint on paper, canvas, or imitation leather. The colors are applied fluidly, dripping, formally, and with a limited palette. Barbara Höller is interested in structures and spaces, as well as the viewer's perception. "I try to create structures that offer multiple options for interpretation."
Barbara Höller was born in Vienna in 1959 and lives and works there. She studied mathematics at the University of Vienna and at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Exhibitions and projects both in Austria and abroad have been followed by numerous awards and grants. The artist participates in many collaborations and curatorial projects.
