Florentina Pakosta was born in Vienna in 1933, where she also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts.

In the 1960s she reacted with her works to patriarchal power structures. This is followed by gender-specific analyses of the predominant role model within our society. The far-reaching political changes in 1989 provided the impetus for a new artistic path. Florentina Pakosta broke away from representationalism and with her large-scale tricolor paintings still creates an impressive geometric abstraction today.
