Leverenz understands her paintings as "spaces of possibility," often imbued with an existential, tragicomic, yet also poetic atmosphere.
Her works are narrative and characterized by magical realism. They revolve around the big questions of life in the search for our essence, our origins, and our future, and are an attempt to convey an idea of ourselves. Larissa Leverenz works across media, focusing on screen printing, drawing, and painting. Analog drawings and objects are digitized and manipulated before being reprinted analogously. This transformation process plays with the characteristics of recognition and alienation, microcosm and macrocosm.
