Ursula Hübner, born in Salzburg in 1958, studied stage design at the Mozarteum and painting at the University of Applied Arts, where she studied under Maria Lassnig. From 1984 onwards, she worked as a stage designer in Europe and the USA and received numerous awards. Ursula Hübner headed the painting and graphic arts class at the University of Art and Design Linz for many years and has been a professor emeritus since October 2024.
In addition to her work as a painter, she is also known for her style-defining sets for the theatre groups „Sparverein Die Unz Ertrennlichen“ und Perchtoldsdorfer Kreis. Her works have been shown in numerous exhibitions in Austria and abroad.
From 19 September 2025, L.art VIENNA will be showing works from various series such as The Invisible, First Garden, Die Organe der Geister (The Organs of Ghosts), Justine and Romantic Organs. Thematically, the paintings, collages and pastels revolve around the fragility of the body and the planet, the question of the balance of living beings, and the need to ‘turn the tide’ with confidence and determination. The first issue of Studio Views, which offers regular insights into the artist's work, also appears in this context.
