Alois Mosbacher's works tell of chance encounters and paradoxical interactions. With animals, everyday objects, and depictions of nature, the Austrian artist shows the ordinary in unusual constellations. Since the 1980s, the former representative of the "Neue Wilden" has developed his own visual language. Trees and branches twine around seemingly discarded objects or overgrow the boundaries of the picture plane, huts built from bulky waste in the forest convey a dystopian mood. Mosbacher explores the narrative possibilities of painting with his representational and abstract motifs. The staging of his works and their medial range also play an important role.

Under the title Palinops, a unique art biotope is being created at Belvedere 21. Landscapes, still lifes and figurative compositions from different creative phases enter into dialogue with each other and offer visitors space for their own narrative strands and interpretations. The exhibition invites visitors to perceive everyday objects differently and combines Mosbacher's playful and enigmatic artistic language with his typical humor. (Text © Belvedere)
