Astrid Bechtold-Fox, Mye Lee

Vienna
25. Apr 2025 to 07. Jun 2025

We are delighted to invite you to the exhibition by Astrid Bechtold-Fox and Miye Lee. The two artists take us on a journey into nature in bloom.

In her photographs and paintings, Astrid Bechtold-Fox allows us to look through a microscope. Flowers and plants are magnified and blurred to create abstract, fictitious landscapes. In photography, this is done with analog photography and blurring, transferred to large-format photographic paper. In painting, an abstract depiction of nature is created using a special technique of numerous, fine glazes of color with acrylic on canvas. These paintings appear like an echo or a spherical landscape viewed through a veil.

Based on walks in nature, the Vienna-based artist Miye Lee depicts her impressions and sensations in a very reduced form. In the process of painting, a playful spontaneity and rapid brushwork determine the structure of the compositions. The luminous paint, which is usually applied very thinly, creates traces and free structures. Nature is depicted abstractly, timelessly and poetically with ornamental forms.
