Barbara Szüts 1952

Barbara Szüts studied at the University of Applied Arts in Herbert Tasquil's master class for design and painting with Carl Unger.

The artist observes movement sequences in visible and made-visible nature and translates this simulated spatiality into her drawings on paper. The curves of the lines are not created randomly; they are physically sensual, long-proven, and yet spontaneously drawn perceptions. The works can be further developed in any direction. The path to freestanding sculpture led via relief. The artist succeeded in translating the drawings into space in 2007 using a program. She creates the sculptures, which are later produced with a laser or water jet, on a digitized original drawing. The sculpture emerges from the sheet metal. This classic negative-positive process creates a play of becoming and passing away. Her preferred materials are stainless steel and aluminum, which absorb the light and colors of their surroundings. Her sculptures are designed for both wall mounting and free-standing installation.
