Bianca Regl 1980

Bianca Regl studied at the Ateliers des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris, at the University of Art and Design Linz under Ursula Hübner, at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Hubert Schmalix, and at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is one of Austria's most internationally renowned contemporary painters.

Her works oscillate between figurative suggestion and formal abstraction and are characterized by atmospheric density and poetic titles. With a keen sense for the fragmentary, the fleeting, and the emotional in the visible, Regl questions the relationship between perception, memory, and identity in her works—thus creating works that transcend the purely pictorial.

Her work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Asia, and the US, including at the Museum Angerlehner, ZK Art Space Beijing, the Essl Collection, and the Leopold Collection. Since 2010, she has directed the independent art space BLACKBRIDGE OFF in Beijing, which has become a meeting place for cross-border artistic dialogue.
