Sissa Micheli | On Transient Phenomena

Book Launch

The new monograph by Vienna-based South Tyrolean media artist Sissa Micheli presents her most important work series of the last ten years. Her photographs, videos, and installations focus on the transience of human existence and the view of ephemeral phenomena. Using flowing textiles, usually in front of the face and body, she creates fascinating temporary sculptures that, in a sensual interplay, evoke the fleeting and transient. Her photo series of object assemblages from everyday and museum contexts, in contrast, offers humorous insights into a surreal microcosm that also exists only for the photographic moment. Sissa Micheli is a master of staging. Impressively and highly aesthetically, she explores the structures and interstices of photography in its duality between reality and fiction.
